2022 "Hanami" Cabernet Franc
Born in Loire, France, 'Hanami' is named after the Japanese practice of viewing cherry blossoms in bloom, a red wine fit for the contemplative celebration of life with its floral and cherry notes. One of the vins vivants or 'living wines', this aromatic and light Cabernet Franc evolves as you experience it, revealing pieces of its personality with layers upon layers of flavors begging to be explored.
This wine feels young and wild with flavors of fleshy ripe dark cherries, leather, flowers. On the nose you get Korean green peppers and smoke. Flavorful and delicious, yet simple and not cerebral at all- just a sweetheart. Perfect for accompanying intimate conversations that are endlessly unravelling.

Varietal: Cabernet Franc
Viticulture: Farmed organically in limestone and clay soil, on vines 15 to 50 years in age. Harvested by hand in 20Kg boxes, sorted in the vineyard. Yields of 50hl/ha.
Winemaking: Destemmed grapes underwent gentle maceration for 20 days. 30% of the blend is vinified in carbonic maceration. Blended at the end of fermentation. Aged for 4 months in concrete tanks. Unfiltered.
Calvez Bobinet headed by Sébastien Bobinet and Émeline Calvez, is one of the most respected natural winemakers from Saumur, Loire Valley in France. Taking over 1.8 hectares of vines from his grandparents, Sébastien, a 7th generation winemaker, started Domaine Bobinet with a focus of growing grapes organically and making wine without any additions. Émeline on the other hand brings her expertise as a well-respected sommelier. Receiving training from the likes of Olivier Cousin, the Foucoult Brothers of Clos Rougeard and Beaujolais forefather Jules Chauvet, Sébastien and Émeline now craft some of the most beautiful natural wines representing Saumur.
